The School of Planning is proud to offer its students a School Ring! The ring was originally designed by three students in the first graduating class in 1969.

The ring is available to all graduating undergraduate and graduate students and is to be worn on the small finger. The ring is made of latinum, a stainless steel alloy that is harder than silver. It does not bend or tarnish the way silver can and is safe for those with silver allergies.

Custom engraving is included. You may choose up to 6 characters, including spaces. Number and letters only. Block font only.

It is the responsibility of the customer to determine their appropriate ring size. Please use this Sizing Chart (PDF), or the chart below, to determine your size. If the ring does not fit correctly, the resizing fee of $50.00 (+ applicable taxes) will be at the customer's expense.

The School of Planning Ring custom order page will close on March 15, 2021. Average turnaround time is 8 - 10 weeks after the page closes. Please allow extra time for shipping.

A description of the symbols on the ring are:

The frame of the symbol is a rectangle to indicate that a planner should always be concerned with their total environment and constantly look outward in all directions to see what is needed in their external environment.

Within the rectangle is the ancient and traditional Chinese marriage symbol, representing the marriage of theory and practice. While they are not necessarily combined, both theory and practice must go hand in hand in the daily work of a professional planner.

The arrow, representing the focus of the planner's attention, symbolizes the implementation skills of a planner, emerging from the support by this marriage of theory and practice.

To measure your finger using the reference chart below:
  1. Wrap a string around your finger.
  2. Find the length of the string that wraps around your finger exactly one time.
