In partnership with the Office of Indigenous Relations comes this new collection of Indigenous products featuring artwork
from Tehatsistahawi (Tsista) Kennedy, Anishinaabe Onyota’a:ka artist from Beausoleil First Nation and Oneida Nation of the
Thames.
Tsista is a self-taught artist and has developed a unique variation of Woodland Style Art, characterized by
semi-bold black lines, intricate patterns, and vibrant colours that make his artwork flow elegantly across the canvas. His
artwork merges traditional aspects of his identity with contemporary perspectives, infused with his personal experiences and
stories.
Tsista grew up in Kitchener-Waterloo and used the idea of the Canada Goose, an important fixture of the
UWaterloo campus, to draw upon fond memories as a kid – getting chased by geese, feeding them bread in the park, and
enjoying the fluffy goslings come springtime. His artwork embodies an illustration of a pair of geese with three little goslings.
